I was returning from visiting a client yesterday (I really love having a mobile office!) I just about ran off the road trying to jot down the web address advertised on this billboard (I’m sure they probably hoped I would memorize it, but with so much on my plate, I don’t trust my memory . . . for this I do use Jott to help).I love this style of creative marketing, but you rarely see it churches. Most churches do nothing in terms of advertising. Some churches are improving their visual communication design. But few employ creative arresting marketing strategies like this. I know I’m a sucker for good marketing strategies, but I find it hard to believe that this church won’t get a million hits to their website from “normal” people (that’s calling me “abnormal”!) I spend alot of my day on the internet, researching innovative marketing strategies that will help you, reading small business marketing success stories to share here, and following up on intriguing websites like this for UnscrewMyLife.com.
As you get into this posted site, you can eventually link to their church website which gives more detail behind the people hoping to bring hope to this city. You gotta click on “ScrewyStuff” and see the hiliarious video trailers.
Great job HOPE Church in Fort Worth – great church marketing!
Certainly got my attention. So many churches are going to spend the next week trying to bring people to their buildings for Easter. It seems like a church with a good marketing strategy would be able to get lots of people to the web to find out more information. I’m sure there are alot of “unchurched” folks out there who feel like HopeChurch is a place that feel more at ease with than some place with a stuffy, serious message.
Don’t get me wrong, the Message of Jesus is serious business but even Jesus found creative ways to tell his stories. When did the church lose that?
From a communication standpoint, Jesus was one of the most creative communicators. He knew his audience. He knew the message that resonated with them. And he knew the “competing fa
Sorry …. it got posted before I was ready.
Jesus knew the world – the culture a – and d what competed for the hearts of men. He knew their fears. He knew their suffering. He simply spoke truth to communicate that to the people.
In church we often promote our church’s programs. We promote our selveds.
But we could learn something from Jesus this Easter and promote wthe message that resonates with the people we want to reach.
Sorry about my misspellings. My screeen is doing something stragnge and I can’t see what I am typing. !
Take a look at http://www.evotional.com. The National Community Church pastor has a blog that has thousands of readers. This has been a great complimentary tool to their ministry. Also, he is connected to a lot of interesting churches that are focused on marketing.
Last year they had a BUZZ conference around creating BUZZ for your church. This year they are doing some other one day conferences. Also, they launched a coffee house called Ebenezers which they use to compliment their church (and have conference space).
I thought this might be a great resource. I have enjoyed reading your blog since we reconnected on Linked In. I am launching a blog complimentary to my new company website. I am sure there will be some great ideas here.
Thanks Carol for the great resources.
It’s fun to connect with old friends from COBA.
